Industry Moves: Former Voda Content Head Joins Picsel, Company Gears Up For IPO

Graeme Ferguson—whose work as head of content at Vodafone and consulting work since has impacted industry thinking about mobile content and monetization models—has taken the post of MD of the Global Content Division at Picsel Technologies, a Scottish mobile platform provider. The high-flying company is making a shift from making content more accessible through readers and other technology to delivering a more comprehensive mobile publishing platform for consumer brands. Ferguson will be responsible for developing global partnerships with content owners interested in bring their brands mobile.
Picsel received one of the biggest mobile content fundings in the last year, snapping up $46.5 million in third round of funding. The round was led by Capital International Private Equity Fund IV, and Doll Capital, NIF, SMBC Ventures Co., Ltd. and SBI Investment Co., Ltd. also participated in the round. In addition, Picsel received an investment from DoCoMo.com, Inc., a subsidiary wholly owned by NTT DoCoMo. Picsel employs 240 staff at its offices in the U.K., Japan, China, Korea, Malaysia and the U.S. (Release)
