The longest 7 years to fix security exploit


ServerMessage Block protocol.I have never heard such a long delay is fixing security issues. Microsoft has released a security update, MS08-068, whichaddresses an NT LAN Manager reflection vulnerability in theServer


The exploit was discovered in 2000, and the code was first published back in March of 2001. So this means that a known security vulnerability related to aMicrosoft authentication protocol sat on your Windows box for more thanseven years, waiting for Microsoft to get around to fixing it:
