Amazon gets record sales on Dec 15th with 6.3 million items ordered

In current repression days Amazon statement is a ray of light for online businesses. According to Amazon.com announced the 2008 holiday season was the best with over 6.3 million items ordered worldwide on the peak day, Dec. 15, which is a record-breaking 72.9 items per secon.

The company did not provide dollar figures and wouldn’t say whether the average value of orders had changed, and the jumps it reported Friday are in line with increases Amazon has seen since it started releasing the figures in 2002.

Here are Amazon Worldwide 2008 Holiday Facts (includes www.amazon.com, www.amazon.co.uk, www.amazon.de, www.amazon.fr, www.amazon.co.jp  and www.amazon.ca):

  1. Amazon shipped to over 210 countries.
  2. One of our most remote shipments was Take Along Thomas & Friends toys, delivered to Unalaska, Alaska.
  3. On the peak day this season, Amazon’s worldwide fulfillment network shipped over 5.6 million units.
  4. Amazon shipped over 169,000 units to APO/FPO addresses.
  5. Amazon shipped more than 99 percent of orders in time to meet holiday deadlines worldwide.
  6. Amazon shipped to over 210 countries.

My question would be, which are the top sites that are selling these products for amazon? Their commissions must be huge!
