Motorola rejects DroidX destroyed by eFuse

With the launch of X- Droid mobile phone, Motorola has just released the sequel to the highly popular Droid mobile phone , but in the wake followed criticism over a feature that is supposed to destroy the phone if you picked it.

Motorola has used IBM's eFuse technology that reportedly will make the phone unusable if a user pills at either Android kernel, bootloader or the phone's ROM.

Motorola rejects being made to the phone being destroyed , but recognize that the phone can no longer be used, but it is just to come original software in it again.

In reference specifically two eFuse , the technology is not loaded with the purpose of Preventing a consumer device from functioning , but rather Ensuring for the user that the device only runs on updated and tested versions of software. If a device attempts two boot with unapproved software, it will go into recovery mode , and can re -boot once approved software is re - installed.Motorola

Phone manufacturer suggests further that it is very normal to try to prevent third party to tamper with the software in its product.

MOTOMAGX!! Motorola's Mobiel Linux Platform

Motorola has announced its mobile Linux platform, called MOTOMAGX. The release of the new mobile operating platform will be on the new ROKR Z6 and the followup to the RAZR, the RAZR V8. The V8 will be the company's first Linux-based handset available in North America.

"At Motorola, we know that software is just as important as hardware-through the introduction of our MOTOMAGX platform, we are reinforcing our firm commitment to Linux and empowering our developer community to innovate with us in exciting new ways," Alain Mutricy, senior vice president of platform technology at Motorola's Mobile Devices, said in a statement.
Motorola also announced that over the next few years it expects up to 60% of its handset portfolio to be based on mobile Linux.

Motorola's MOTOMAGX platform is designed to support content created by third-party developers; the platform supports applications developed in Java ME, with plans to introduce new WebUI and native Linux application environments in upcoming releases. To encourage third party development, Motorola has also announced its MOTODEV Studio integrated development environment, to facilitate innovative and timely applications.

Once Again, Nokia Ahead!!!!!

According to one of the article of Brad Smith from Wireless Week, a new survey shows more wireless developers expect to write applications for Nokia platforms as Nokia headsets are more in sales in market. In the United States, where Motorola has been the leading brand, the survey finds it also has been the leading developer platform.

The survey was done by Evans Data, which lauded Nokia for what it called a "world-class" developer program under Forum Nokia. The program, says Evans Data President John Andrews, "has been crucial in solidifying their developer base in Europe and successfully developing markets in Asia ."

The Evans Data survey of about 400 developers also found 64% of them were writing some open source applications, and that half of them are using location-based information.

Motorola in Loss? no more Motos.......

Motorola in loss due to slow phones sales overseas and tough competition in the United Sates. The handset manufacturer posted an operating loss of $38 million, compared with a profit of $1.35 for the second quarter last year. Net sales fell 19% to $8.7 billion from $10.82 billion the same quarter last year.

During the quarter, Motorola shipped 35.5 million mobile phones, an estimated 13.5% share of the global market, most likely pushing it to third place in the global market behind Nokia and Samsung. Its mobile device unit sales fell 40% to $4.3 billion, posting a loss of $264 million, compared with earnings of $804 million a year ago.

The company said it expects earnings per share from continuing operations in the third quarter to be flat or slightly up from the second quarter earnings. But it repeated its warning that the mobile device business would not turn a profit this year, saying "it expects its financial results to improve in the second half of the year."
