Google Talk! Development has been started again

According to Irene Chen,Wistron NeWeb has entered design-in development for Wi-Fi phones with Google Talk compatibility. The maker has been shipping Skype-enabled Wi-Fi phones to branded network-equipment vendors since late last year, according to company sources.
Shipments of Skype Wi-Fi phones could top 20,000-30,000 units a month in the second half of 2007, indicated the sources.

The Wi-Fi phones targeting the consumer segment will help drive revenues growth at Wistron in the future, said the sources.

The company has also stepped up its efforts to boost sales of its SIP (session initiation protocol) Wi-Fi phones to the telecoms sector in 2007, said the company sources, noting that the company previously focused on brand vendors for the production of the SIP Wi-Fi phones.

Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) and another Taiwan-based telecoms services provider have adopted VoIP solutions, which include CPE (customer premises equipment) products such as SIP Wi-Fi phones, offered by Wistron, the sources indicated.
