Industry Moves: FunMobility Adds To Board

Mobile entertainment company FunMobility has announced that internet entrepreneur Mark Jung has joined their Board of Directors. Jung has 17 years experience as a successful internet CEO and entrepreneur. Jung was previously the Chief Operating Officer of Fox Interactive Media (FIM) where he was responsible for all of its internet properties including MySpace, IGN Entertainment, FoxSports.com, Scout Media, and AmericanIdol.com… before that he was the co-founder and CEO of IGN Entertainment, a leading Internet media and services company for videogaming and other forms of digital entertainment that he took public in March 2000 and then private in August 2003. Mark led IGN’s sale to NewsCorp, the parent company of Fox Interactive Media in October 2005.

The company claims the new models to boast a crisp image quality than any other TV and have created black levels that are 80% deeper than formerly possible with a strikingly true contrast ratio of 20,000: 1. Another notable feature is the new deep encased cell structure, crystal emissive layer and first surface colour filter that accounts for the deep blacks and vivid colors. While the six 720p models in 42- and 50-inch sizes will hit the shelves in June, the four 1080p 50-inch and 60-inch models come with “Optimum mode” and will start shipping in September.

ROK Goes Public Via Reverse IPOBy

ROK Entertainment Group and CyberFund (OTC: CYFD) today jointly announced that Cyberfund will aquire 100 percent of the issued and outstanding shares of ROK in exchange for 57,000,000 common shares of CyberFund, according to an e-mail release. Cyberfund will then change its name to ROK Entertainment Group. ROK has raised in excess of $40 million in financing, with the latest round bringing in $7 million a few weeks ago in preparation for an IPO. ROK has offices in the UK, US and China as well as JVs in Russia, Brazil and the UAE. It currently has 3 patents issued and 42 additional patent applications pending for new technologies which it has developed for the delivery of video entertainment to mobile phones.

Vodafone Egypt Plans 3G Video Service

Vodafone Egypt will launch a range of rich media services for its 3G customers in Spring, including a mobile TV service. Kamera will provide some TV channels tailored to the local Arabic market, including an Arabic-speaking news channel ShortCut, the sport channel SportCall and the entertainment channel WOW! TV, plus highlights from the upcoming Qualifications to the EURO2008 football championship. Kamera will also distribute third-party channels, including encoding video live and near live and editing the third party content. (release)
